SO psyched to finally post this. XD I've been meaning to forever. This is a tea pot that I made in my ceramics class last year. Yes it functions, yes that is the couch it's sitting on and it almost doesn't fit. XD This teapot is 16 inches long, by 8 inches wide, by four inches tall, six at the tail. The entire body with the exception of underneath is covered in scales, which were pressed out from small balls of clay about half a centimeter wide and tall, if not smaller. The bowl is a very large pinch pot, the neck is a rolled tube of clay, and the head, tail and feet are sculpted from clay, the head having been hollowed out so the water could get through. The eyes of the dragon are flattened Mancala marbles, glued in after the firing process. The scales are painted with a royal purple glaze, and the inside of the bowl and the spout were painted with a waterproof, "black magic" glaze.
Estimated time spent: Probably close to 80 hours, believe it or not. I spent every study hall, ceramics class, and as much time after school as I could for about two months. That was a lot of scales, okay? O.O
It does indeed. ^^ The only problem is that you can't fill it all the way, because the spout slopes down, so it just pours out. XD But then again, that would be a LOT of tea.. lol 8"x8" bowl, and it's 4" tall... XD
I made a griffin teapot once! *highfive*
And that's awesome! Do you have pictures? *wants to see* XD
And thank you ^^
